Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for our program, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Hold an MSc/Diploma in the relevant field or have a BSc and MSc (or equivalent) with a total duration of at least 5 years of university studies.
- Possess a strong academic record, with a GPA above 80% or a first or upper second class degree, ranking in the top 10% of students in a given year.
- Have practical lab experience of at least 4-6 months.
- Demonstrate excellent English language skills. While not required, it is recommended to provide a TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent certificate if you are not a native English speaker or did not complete your university education in an English-speaking country.
Language Fluency
At Ielts Max, English is the official language of the program. Knowledge of German is not required for admission. However, if you have taken an English language proficiency test such as TOEFL or IELTS, we encourage you to upload your certificates in the application platform. Additionally, successful applicants will have the opportunity to attend a free German language course if they choose to.
Standardized Tests
Unlike many other programs, IMPRS-IEM does not require standardized testing such as the GRE for admissions. You may choose to upload any relevant certificates, but they are not mandatory for the application process.
Individual Fellowship and Financial Support
Applicants are not required to have an individual fellowship to apply to our program. All students offered entry into the program will be provided with an employment contract that covers their living expenses. There are no tuition fees to pay, allowing students to focus solely on their research and academic pursuits. However, we strongly encourage students to apply for individual fellowships to enhance their CV and broaden their opportunities during their PhD journey.
Completion of Master Degree
If you have not completed your current Master’s degree, don’t worry! You can still apply to our program. However, it is essential to have finished your studies before the program’s start date. If you anticipate receiving your physical certificate at a later date, that is acceptable.
